Component-level repair across the entire ThinkSystem line: SR rack, ST tower, SD dense multi-node, SN modular Flex System. Diagnostics via XClarity Controller, Lenovo-original or certified-refurbished spares, sourcing also on the legacy IBM System x line.
Lenovo acquired the entire x86 server line from IBM in 2014 (ex System x) and is today the third global player. Strong presence in telco, finance, Italian and German manufacturing, scientific research. SR670 V3 and SR685a V3 platforms are reference for AI training with NVIDIA H100/H200.
The ThinkSystem family is articulated in four major families. We also know well the legacy ex-IBM System x line, still widely in production.

XClarity Controller (XCC) is Lenovo's out-of-band management, succeeding IBM's IMM2. XCC on V1 models; XCC2 on V2/V3 with significant security, automation and monitoring improvements. Standard license is included; XClarity Pro enables graphical remote control, virtual media, automation.
Typical failures we handle: XCC firmware corruption after upgrade, certificate loss after motherboard swap, BMC stuck on POST, dedicated XCC network issues.
SEL and Failure Logs reading via XClarity web UI or XCC CLI. On V3 models also integration with Lenovo XClarity Administrator (LXCA) for fleet management.
Anonymized real SEL extract on a Lenovo ThinkSystem showing specific symptoms. The fault was in the logs from previous days.
TruDDR DIMM replacement. SEL reading via XClarity to identify the affected bank. Replacement with TruDDR4 (V1/V2 gen) or TruDDR5 (V3 gen) original or equivalent compatible by rank, voltage, capacity.
ThinkSystem RAID controllers. Repair and replacement of 540-8i / 9350-8i / 940-8i / 940-16i / 940-32i / 5350-8i. Cache battery replacement. Array recovery with import of existing configuration.
XClarity module replacement. When XCC fails or has unrecoverable firmware corruption, we replace the module where technically possible and restore certificates and licenses coordinating with the Lenovo channel.
Thermal paste refresh on Intel Xeon Scalable and AMD EPYC. Thermal throttling analysis via XClarity sensor data. Particularly critical on dense models (SD-series) and AI platforms (SR670, SR685a) with high-TDP CPUs.
Lenovo CRPS PSU. Replacement of Common Redundant Power Supply Platinum/Titanium 750W/1100W/1600W/2000W in production on redundant configurations.
GPU replacement and diagnostics. On SR670 V3 and SR685a V3: H100/H200 GPU replacement, NVLink/NVSwitch link verification, thermal control under load, GPU thermal paste refresh if needed.
Legacy System x. Work on x3550 M5/M6, x3650 M5, x3850 X6: motherboards, DIMMs, IMM2, M5210/M5225 controllers, PSUs. Spare sourcing through certified refurbished.
Lenovo official channel. Original ThinkSystem parts for models in active support, with 24-48h delivery on stocked items.
Certified refurbished. For end-of-life models and legacy System x, we use the tnsolutions group's refurbished pool with warranty.
EOL System x sourcing. On x3550 M5, x3650 M5, x3850 X6 and older models (System x from pre-Lenovo acquisition): we source motherboards, DIMMs, PSUs, IBM ServeRAID controllers. Compatible donors disclosed in the quote.
Yes, both. ThinkSystem is the current Lenovo line (acquired from IBM in 2014). System x is the pre-acquisition legacy line, still widely in production in banks, public administration, manufacturing. We work on x3550 M4/M5, x3650 M4/M5, x3850 X5/X6, x3950 X6 with spare sourcing via certified refurbished or compatible donors.
Yes. On these platforms (NVIDIA H100/H200 / NVLink): thermal paste refresh on CPU cores under continuous load, replacement of degraded TruDDR5 RAM modules, NVLink/NVSwitch link verification under load, GPU replacement when needed, thermal control with XClarity sensors, integration of new GPU hardware generations.
XCC is on ThinkSystem V1; XCC2 on V2/V3 with improvements on security (TPM 2.0, secure boot), automation (more complete RESTful API), monitoring (more sensors, longer history). For us: the basic diagnostic procedure is similar, but on XCC2 we have more historical data useful for correlating intermittent faults.
Yes, where the Lenovo license allows. XClarity Pro is tied to the server's serial number. We coordinate the transfer with the Lenovo channel; when not allowed, we document the constraint and propose a new license.
Generally yes, with caveats: the Lenovo compatibility matrix must always be verified for the specific combination of controller × server model × backplane generation. On replacements we support foreign config import to avoid array loss. On upgrades (e.g., 540-8i → 940-16i) we also check compatibility with cabling, backplane and advanced-feature licenses.
